Router Table Extension For My Cabinet Saw
If you are like me, you are very limited in your shop space. Therefore, finding a place for new equipment is always an issue. I found the solution for a new router table by simply replacing one of the extensions wings on my General International cabinet saw. This give me a very solid router table without taking up more room in the shop. There are several brands of these add-ons, I chose Bench Dog cast ion router table for my saw because it was easy to install and it fit perfectly.
After I attached the router table to the saw, I attached the extra extension wing that I had removed to the other side of the table saw. This gave me a completed combination that is 54 inches wide.
I then pushed it all up against my workbench and sanding table so I could use them as an out-feed table. I now have one large table that is 5 feet by 9 feet; large enough to cut a full sheet of plywood.
Once the router table is attached to your table saw you will also need a router lift and the Bench Dog router lift is made for it.
If you do a search on YouTube for explaining more about the Bench Dog® Cast Iron Router Table for Table Saw you will find dozens of them but I’ll save you some time: I thought that this one is one of the better ones:
Dust Collection:
If you have never used a equipment like this before you will be shocked by the huge volume of dust and wood chips they produce. I therefore, recommend that you take a look at from Dave Stanton. Dave has some wonderful ideas about dust collections for both his table saw and the attached router table. He also has several homemade accessories for his table saw and its’ attached router table. Take a look.
